🤔 Preface
This is the 6th issue of Seeking Weekly. It may also be the last.
Seeking Weekly was a bold experiment for me. A little over a month ago, I had a simple idea:
Get the highest-quality information in as little time as possible.
But as each weekly deadline arrived, I found that, from a utilitarian standpoint, this approach made me passive, and I wasn’t benefiting much from it.
From a utilitarian perspective, writing technical and reflective articles does benefit me: it’s an embodiment of the Feynman learning technique—that is, the person sharing learns by teaching, and both the author and the readers benefit.
However, compiling high-quality information like Seeking Weekly is, in a sense, neither creative nor has a high barrier to entry, and it’s hard for me to benefit from the process of curating it.
At the very beginning, I would pay attention to quality information I encountered during the week, jot it down, and then write and share it over the weekend. But after the relentless test of time, that initial enthusiasm for sharing was shelved. It turned from passion into a passive “rush to finish,” from a right of mine into an obligation—even though no one ever asked me to do it.
At that moment, I realized it was time to say goodbye to readers.
I realized that what I actually enjoy is the result of sharing, not the process. Knowing that more people can find quality information makes me happy, but what I’m unwilling to bear is the process of sharing. The two are hard to balance.
Perhaps it was the “weekly” format that constrained me. Looking at it from my own self-interest, maybe what I need is instant sharing and instant joy. Discontinuing the weekly doesn’t mean I no longer enjoy sharing. I think I may need to switch to a different format—for example, running a Telegram channel, writing WeChat Official Account articles, or some other format I haven’t thought of yet. I want to be able to share immediately when I feel the time is right. I hope to meet readers again.
Thank you for reading. Whether you’ve been a reader for many issues or this is your first time, please allow me to express both my gratitude and my apologies.
